BIOGRAPHY
Photographer Sharon MacDonnell has won awards
from the Canadian Association of Photographic Arts and the local
art community. Her work has appeared in regional and national publications
such as Photolife Magazine, Canadian Wildlife, Westworld and The
Georgia Strait. She has taught darkroom techniques at the college
level and been a guest lecturer to professional photography students
A 1999 graduate of the North Island College
Professional Photography Program, Sharon has developed a bold, contemporary
style. With an eye for detail, her images have a certain ease and
elementariness without being too simplistic. Clean, uncluttered
lines are the result of thoughtful restraint. When working with
people she captures striking portraits by choosing that moment when
art, design and timing align. Paying homage to ordinary moments
by transfusing them with natural elegance.
Passionate about the great outdoors she draws her inspiration from
nature and it’s simple beauty. She lives with her husband
and daughter on Canada’s rugged west coast surrounded by rivers,
mountains, forests and the ocean.
